Culture in Times of Crisis: Join us at the Green Culture Festival
Date

9.–10. June 2026

Location

Tollhaus Karlsruhe

Free registration

The Green Culture Festival – Europe’s largest professional event on sustainability in the arts, culture, media, and the creative industries – returns for its third edition on 9 and 10 June 2026 at Tollhaus Karlsruhe. The 2026 theme, “Take a breath. What’s coming, what’s staying, what’s going?”, invites critical reflection at a time when questions of resilience and social cohesion have never felt more pressing.

We are participating with two panels, bringing the Museum Agency’s experience from international museum projects to the festival. Together with experts from Ukraine and the United Kingdom, we explore what cultural institutions can learn from one another when they work across borders.

On 9 June, we discuss how art and culture can sustain society in times of war, in conversation with Małgorzata Ławrowska-von Thadden from the Ukrainian museum network OBMIN. What role do museums and cultural institutions play in times of crisis? What lessons can Germany learn from experience of the war in Ukraine?

On 10 June, the focus turns to international cooperation for a sustainable museum sector. In conversation with Reyahn King from The Exhibitions Group (UK), we ask: How can exhibitions be designed from the outset for multiple venues? How can museums share resources and pool curatorial expertise through collaboration?

Both panels are open to all festival attendees. Attendance at the Green Culture Festival is free of charge, but registration is required. We hope to see you there!
