Panel discussions as part of the OBMIN conference 2025 “Resilience. Recovery. Future: Culture in the Recovery of Ukraine”

In times of conflict, museums face unique challenges: They are responsible for safeguarding their collections, supporting communities, and preserving cultural heritage. The conference “Resilience. Recovery. Future: Culture in the Recovery of Ukraine”, organised by OBMIN and taking place in Warsaw from 26–27 June 2025, will focus on the role of museums and cultural institutions in recovery processes. In addition, the event will explore how to create sustainable international partnerships.

The museum agency is supporting the participation of Aikaterini Dori, Custodian Social & Economic History at the Dresden City Museum, and Dr. Sabine Lata, Curator and Research Associate at the Gemäldegalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, in two panel discussions. Dori will reflect on her experience supporting Dresden's Ukrainian community with the project “Collect Together! Give Voice! A participatory collection project with city dwellers from Ukraine” in the panel “Collecting stories: museums as laboratories for new narratives and fight against disinformation”. In another panel, “3 years after. What museums can do better”, Dr. Lata and Igor Poronyk (Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art), among others, will discuss their collaboration on the exhibition “From Odesa to Berlin. European Painting of the 16th to 19th Century”, on view from 24 January until 22 June 2025 at the Gemäldegalerie in Berlin.

Participation in the conference is supported through our programme International Dialogues. This initiative facilitates exchange among museum professionals, enabling them to jointly address the many contemporary challenges in cross-border cultural work.
